Program Summary

The specialization of international relations focuses in his study on multidisciplinary research that includes the fields of economics, history, and political science, to study topics related to contemporary issues of global poverty, human rights, the environment and others, whose content deals with researching issues of public policy problems, and expects what can happen in this Context, in addition to developing appropriate solutions to it; Economic integration, unprecedented threats to peace and security issues, and a global focus on human rights and environmental protection issues, have led to the development and complexity of international relations in the twenty-first century. International relations seek to understand the origins of war and bring peace, study the nature of power and governance in the world order, and understand the changing nature of those involved in international decision-making.

The study of international relations depends mainly on the nature of the work and goals of the organization. Some institutions may study the psychological and psychosocial thinking that results in the actions of external political decision-makers, while other institutions may focus on political processes that contribute to the goals and behavior of countries.

The Political Science undergraduate program aims to provide students with a scientific understanding of social phenomena that would enable them to uncover the roots of common perceptions and practices, challenge them when necessary, and come up with policy proposals when possible. Such an ambitious goal necessitates the students to be equipped with a knowledge of political theory and history, as well as of political economy and methodological tools in social sciences. In addition to the required and core courses which will provide such basic information and analytical perspectives, the students can choose either to concentrate in one of the areas governance or political thought, or can design their coursework in such a way to combine these areas with courses from other social science disciplines in order to get a broad training.

The graduate program in Political Scienceprovides integrated training at MA and PhD levels.The program offers a comprehensive and up-to-date review of the major fields of Political Science and provides the students with a rigorous conceptual framework, basic analytical tools and sound methodological training in the discipline. The program covers the major fields of Political Science (Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory) and offers a rich set of specialization possibilities. With a thematic concentration on Turkish Politics, Middle Eastern Politics, and European Politics, the program stands out among its competitors in Turkey by its courses and faculty members specializing in formal theory and the production and analysis of quantitative evidence.
