Program Summary

The specialization of philosophy is one of the specializations that belong to the College of Arts and Humanities, and it is one of the oldest specializations studied by man, and this specialization is very popular among students, and many of them want to study this specialization.

Philosophy is an ancient science that has its roots in ancient civilizations, especially Greek civilization, which is the main habitat of philosophy until it was called the Greek miracle philosophy.

The Ionian school (painted) is the first of the philosophical schools that appeared, and philosophy developed with the Greeks mixing with the peoples of the eastern Mediterranean, then a number of philosophers and philosophical schools emerged, and among the most prominent philosophers are Greece Aristotle, Plato, Thales, Socrates, and Pythagoras.

The Arabs benefited from Greek philosophy, as did Islamic philosophy, and a group of philosophers emerged in the Arab civilization from among the Canadian, Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina and others.

Philosophy is a word derived from the Greek word philosopher, which means the love of wisdom, and it is defined as the science that studies the general and fundamental problems that are related and related to matters of existence, values, reason in addition to language.

 

The study of philosophy specialization is one of the goals that a large number of students seek to achieve, and in order for the student to enroll in the philosophy specialization he must obtain a high school diploma at a good rate.

After that, he can study for a BA in philosophy for a period of four years, during which he studies a large number of courses that increase his depth and knowledge of philosophy.

The student also undertakes a large number of research seminars during the years of study, which increase his experience in this specialization and ultimately presents a graduation project in the last school year.

And if the student wishes to complete his studies in this specialization and join the master's programs, he must achieve a good average at the bachelor's level, and then he must study the master for a period of three years.

During these years, the student increases his depth in the study of philosophy, also increases and at the end of the three years the student submits a master’s degree in philosophy.

In the event that the student wants to complete his studies and obtain a doctorate in philosophy, he must study this doctorate for a period of five years and then submit a doctoral thesis.

 

During the study years, the student studies a set of courses that increase his depth in the study of philosophy. Among the most prominent of these courses are the introduction to philosophy, the entrance to sociology, the entrance to practical thinking.

Among the courses taught by a philosophy student are philosophical doctrines, uncle of beauty, traditional logic, history of aesthetic thought, mathematical logic.

In addition, a student of philosophy specializes in the history of philosophy, Arab thought and theology, the history of aesthetic thought, and the history of Hellenistic philosophy.

The student also studies ethics, Islamic philosophy, contemporary nudity, political thought, Sufism, the philosophy of civilization and history, as well as epistemology of social sciences.

The student also studies during Arab years of Arab philosophy, the history of contemporary philosophy, and other courses that increase his knowledge in this discipline.
