Gifted Education

Program Summary

Our department of Gifted and Talented Education aims at educating future teachers of the gifted who are equipped with necessary professional knowledge, modern approaches, methods, techniques, and theories; find scientific solutions and make contributions to the field of Gifted Education.

Instead of general education programs, it is necessary to provide specialized educational options in order to meet the learning needs of exceptional students. Therefore, it is necessary to provide required opportunities to meet the learning needs of “Gifted and talented ones” performing at remarkably high levels of achievement when compared to others.

During Ottoman Empire there were ”Enderun” Colleges which were considered one of the earliest steps in this field. Right after the foundation of our Republic, there has been issued a law for the gifted children. Nowadays, education for the gifted is more common and fulfilled by Science and Art Centres, and University of Kids.
