Physical Education and Sports Teaching

Program Summary

The Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching, in addition to training physical education teachers with pedagogical formation to conduct Physical Education and Sports classes in schools; aims to educate sports educators who will teach various movement skills, sports branches, sports-specific teaching methods to individuals with different characteristics at all ages.

The scientific studies between physical education, sports and human health have not gained enough place in the academic world and the academic studies carried out in this field at home and abroad have not reached the desired level. For this reason, our program aims to educate graduates with academic backgrounds for research and development.

There is a need for physical educators who will provide the use of new technology devices related to physical education, teach these devices to related people and are trained according to the needs of the age.

Physical Education and Sports Teaching program can create a multidisciplinary field together with other programs. For example, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences will be given the opportunity to study academically in the Faculty of Education, as well as the relationship between Sports and Nutrition.

It is also possible to work together with departments in the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration and Management Sciences related to different disciplines such as Sports Economics and Sports Psychology.

The program aims at the rapid dissemination of physical education and sport, which is essential for continuous human health, in our society and is supported by government policies.

The fact that our university is located in a metropolitan city such as Istanbul and therefore, it is possible to easily reach all kinds of educational and training resources, sports facilities and enterprises, to have wide social, cultural and material opportunities, and to have more research opportunities and resources may emphasize the strengths of the program.
