What is forensic chemistry?
Forensic chemistry draws attention as one of the most important branches of crime, the applied field of forensic science to shed light on crime events. Forensic chemistry, which realizes the chemical analysis of evidence to be used in courts and is an area in which science and law intersect, has a different place and importance because it contains scientific and legal issues in terms of research, application and presentation in chemistry.

In the forensic chemistry program, courses are offered to encourage forensic chemistry research and specialization in contemporary analytical techniques. Devices, fingerprints, fibers, natural and synthetic drugs, toxic substances, paint, glass, soil, minerals, metals, residue of bullets, explosive residues, and residual chemical evidence for fires such as crime scene, analysis, evaluation, interpretation, reporting, and mutual inquiry are designed to train Experts equipped with defense knowledge and skills. In this field, along with the basic principles of legal chemistry, specific ethical rules are given to the field. Analysis of drugs obtained as glass, paint, ground, or evidence that plays a role in resolving the event is also within the scope of the course.
