Program Summary

The Ph.D. program in English Literature is designed to educate students as researchers in the field of English Literature.

Our courses are designed to provide students with a thorough and critical knowledge of English literature from the Middle Ages to the present and with a critical perspective on world literature.

Our program aims to enable students to identify major literary and cultural theories from classical antiquity to the twenty first century and to articulate ideas and responses against the backdrop of these theories.

Upon graduation, our Ph.D. students should be able to contribute to the field of literary studies by producing academic papers built on independent and in-depth research.
